This project was developed in response to the 2009 grass fires, comprising a multi-purpose facility constructed using the inherent protective qualities and thermal mass of insitu concrete for the external walls.

The design compliments the existing timber buildings on-site whilst providing a robust sanctuary. Designed as a fire shelter, the structure cuts into the site slope and is topped with a green roof, adding to the fire resistance and thermal performance of the building.

The interiors respond to the rustic setting, using natural materials including polished concrete floors and timber linings.
