Biyala Primary School: a new chapter for the Armstrong Creek Community

Building Engineering is proud to celebrate the completion and opening of the new Biyala Primary School in Armstrong Creek, delivered one month ahead of programme in under 12 months in partnership with the Victorian School Building Authority and Architectus. Together, this collaborative team has helped shape a vibrant, future-ready learning environment for one of Victoria’s fastest-growing communities.

Led by Construction Manager Will Devlin and supported by a dedicated project team, the new campus features contemporary learning and community spaces, including a kindergarten, administration building, gymnasium, and three specialist learning facilities across 35,000 square metres.

A campus designed for connection and growth

A key highlight of the project is the extensive outdoor learning network, seamlessly integrated with internal classrooms to foster exploration, creativity, and student well-being. Architectus Senior Associate Laura Venier noted the importance of designing a school that enriches both learning and community life, sharing that the opening of Biyala Primary School marks “an incredible opportunity for the Armstrong Creek community.”

Collaboration at the heart of delivery

Strong partnership and open communication were central to the success of this fast-tracked project. The collective effort between the VSBA, Architectus, and Building Engineering ensured design intent, programme, and stakeholder expectations remained aligned from start to finish.

Principal Shannon Cormack reflected on the experience, commending the transparency and teamwork that underpinned the entire process.

“The collaboration with Building Engineering has been outstanding,” Shannon shared. “They were proactive, open in their communication, and genuinely invested in getting the best outcome for our new school. That shared purpose is what made that partnership so successful.”

Built for its community

For local families, the new campus represents far more than a modern school. It provides a purpose-built environment where children can feel safe, supported, and inspired. Close collaboration with local subcontractors and suppliers also played a major role in this project’s success, reinforcing Building Engineering’s commitment to strengthening regional industry and delivering community-focused infrastructure.
