David Waters appointed General Manager of Building Engineering
Building Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of David Waters as General Manager, as the business continues to scale operations across Victoria.
David has been a key part of the Building Engineering team for nearly 15 years, most recently serving as Commercial Manager. His career spans everything from early projects like the $1.3 million Greensborough Primary School to flagship builds such as the Ivanhoe Grammar School – Ridgeway Campus Sports & Aquatic Centre.
Known for his calm leadership, attention to detail, and collaborative approach, David has played an instrumental role in the company’s evolution. Directors Tom Basel and Chris Doufas state, “David has been a major force in Building Engineering’s growth. This appointment reflects both his capability and our confidence in the direction we’re heading.”
The General Manager role marks a strategic step forward, giving David a 360-degree view of the company across design, business development, estimating, marketing, and project delivery. The move supports Building Engineering’s continued expansion and growing pipeline, with large-scale projects currently underway including Warralily Park Primary School for the Victorian School Building Authority, the Fraser Centre at Ivanhoe Grammar School, and the Gippsland Sports & Entertainment Precinct for Development Victoria.
While the leadership update represents a milestone, it’s not a shift in direction. As David explains, “This is about refining and supporting the incredible momentum we’ve already built. The strength of Building Engineering lies in our people, our culture, and the diversity of projects we deliver – and that’s what I’m here to enhance.”
Outside of work, David is an avid participant in Building Engineering’s corporate triathlon and cycling team, embodying the values of energy and connection that the company fosters.
As Building Engineering enters its next phase, the focus remains clear: organic growth, great people, and promoting from within.
