Future-focused learning at Westgarth Primary School

“This is what it means to invest in our kids’ futures.” – Kat Theophanous MP

The transformation of Westgarth Primary School is now complete, delivering vibrant, future-ready learning spaces that reflect the school’s strong sense of community and progressive education values.

Delivered by Building Engineering in partnership with the Victorian School Building Authority and Law Architects, the upgrade includes a brand-new competition-grade gymnasium, a thoughtfully designed new classroom building, and a series of outdoor enhancements that elevate the entire campus.

A standout feature of the project, the new gymnasium provides students with access to a top-tier facility for sport, fitness and whole-school gatherings, becoming a central hub for both learning and connection.

Sitting alongside is the breathtaking new classroom building, which local MP Kat Theophanous described as:

“Light-filled. Thoughtfully designed. Full of warmth and wonder.”

These classrooms have been built for modern learning — complete with breakout zones, flexible layouts, calming nooks, and every detail crafted to support creativity, focus, and connection. With students stepping into the spaces for the first time in Term 2, the excitement for the new chapter of learning is already in full swing.

Further works included the upgrade of the existing hall with added learning spaces, a central landscaped courtyard, and a new hard court, as well as fresh landscaping with a covered outdoor area to support year-round outdoor play and learning.

Captured beautifully by Dianna Snape, the finished spaces are a testament to what can be achieved when design, education, and community come together.
