Graduate spotlight: Jayda Balas shares her journey on-site at Warralily Park Primary School and Kindergarten

At Building Engineering, we’re proud to deliver projects that shape communities and support the next generation of construction professionals. One of those rising stars is our graduate, Jayda Balas, who is currently based on-site at Warralily Park Primary School and Kindergarten in Armstrong Creek, Geelong.

In a new video spotlight, Jayda takes us behind the scenes of the Warralily Park Primary School and Kindergarten project, a vibrant new education precinct set to open in Term 1, 2026, to welcome up to 650 students.

Jayda, who joined Building Engineering through our Graduate Program, is part of the on-site team helping deliver this dynamic new campus. From coordinating trades to reviewing shop drawings and collaborating with consultants and subcontractors, Jayda’s role has provided her with a hands-on crash course in the real-world challenges (and rewards!) of construction.

“What drew me to construction was a love of seeing things built from the ground up,” Jayda shares. “Building Engineering stood out to me for its diverse projects and supportive graduate program.”

Jayda describes working on a large-scale education project as a “huge learning experience” — one that’s taught her the value of on-site problem-solving, strong communication, and teamwork. A recent highlight? Helping solve a complex services coordination challenge as the school’s gymnasium and learning neighbourhoods took shape.

Jayda’s message to young women considering a future in the industry is simple but powerful:

“Back yourself. Confidence comes with experience, and you belong here.”

We’re proud to have talented, driven individuals like Jayda shaping the future of our projects and the communities they serve.

Huge thanks to Jayda for sharing her journey. Stay tuned as we bring Warralily Park Primary School and Kindergarten to life!
