Major milestone reached at Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park
Building Engineering is proud to share a significant milestone at the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park, as the team completes the installation of the final structural concrete elements for the grandstand.
The project reached an exciting milestone with the installation of the hollowcore seating planks, marking a key step toward bringing the grandstand structure to life. A total of 21 terraces and five stair units have been carefully lifted into position, with the largest elements weighing up to 33 tonnes. These were installed using a 250-tonne crane, showcasing the precision and coordination required across all teams involved.
This milestone reflects a strong collaborative effort between our delivery partners Hollowcore, GBG, DRD, and the Building Engineering on-site team, whose planning and execution have been instrumental in achieving this outcome safely and efficiently.
We are proud to be delivering this project in partnership with our client, Development Victoria, alongside Brand Architects and the extended consultant team, whose support and collaboration continue to drive the project forward.
Beyond the grandstand, momentum continues across all areas of the project.
The change pod structure is now complete, with roofing installed and internal works progressing steadily. At the pavilion, the Level 1 slab was recently poured, with hollowcore plats currently being installed and structural steel framing set to follow immediately after. Works have also commenced on the rammed-earth feature, which will become a defining architectural element of the development.
Externally, both playing surfaces are advancing well. The elite pitch is prepared and ready for turf installation, while the second pitch is not far behind, with turf to be laid shortly. Construction of the synthetic pitch is also underway.
The car park areas have reached the final stages, with preparation complete ahead of asphalt paving.
With strong progress across all fronts, the project continues to build momentum as the team works towards delivering a high-quality sporting and community facility for the region.
