Building Engineering was engaged under a Design and Construct contract to deliver a two-storey modular learning facility, a gymnasium, and associated external works.
At project commencement, documentation was only 50% complete and lacked any structural detail, prompting a key decision between pursuing a modular or traditional construction method. With a tight program in place, the team opted for a modular solution, allowing construction documentation to be prepared in alignment with the build sequence and minimising delays on site.
During early works, contaminated ground material was discovered. To mitigate disposal costs and program delays, the team strategically raised the building’s finished floor level, significantly reducing the volume of contaminated material requiring removal. While this solution required a minor redesign cost, it delivered considerable savings overall, demonstrating a practical, value-driven approach to project delivery.
