The Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park project is a significant investment in community sport and recreation in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley.
Commissioned by Development Victoria in collaboration with Sport & Recreation Victoria and Latrobe City Council, this redevelopment is part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program (RSIP) – designed to strengthen regional communities through modern, inclusive, and event-ready sports facilities.
Delivered under a Design and Construct model and designed by Brand Architects, the project will be delivered across two separable portions:
Separable Portion 1 (SP1): Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park (GSEP)
Scheduled for completion in mid-2026, the GSEP works will transform the precinct into a first-class venue for both sport and entertainment. As a key regional hub for events ranging from elite soccer to live music, these upgrades will ensure the site continues to attract major events and support the local economy.
Scope includes:
• Demolition of the existing pavilion
• Construction of a new, modern pavilion and a change pod
• Upgrades to the synthetic and two natural turf soccer pitches, complete with improved lighting
• Expanded car parking and associated service upgrades
• Increased spectator and player capacity
This investment ensures the Gippsland region remains competitive for national and international sporting events while supporting local clubs and community use.
Separable Portion 2 (SP2): Morwell Gun Club (MGC)
Targeted for completion by the end of 2025, the MGC works will enhance the club’s capabilities while maintaining the facility’s operational status during the construction period.
Scope includes:
• Construction of two new International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) trap bunkers,
• New paths, security fencing, lighting, and equipment installation
With a strong focus on accessibility, economic development, and high-performance sport, this dual-site redevelopment represents a significant step forward for the region’s infrastructure and community pride.
