This project involved demolition of existing facilities followed by refurbishment and fitout works over two stages at the Melbourne Children’s Court and Magistrates Court.
Stage 1 involved demolition of an existing children’s play room and construction of a new cubby house, designed as a colourful, tactile and distracting space for young visitors, providing a safe and calming environment. Areas include private waiting areas, child friendly interview rooms and associated court staff areas. Bespoke joinery works were required.
Stage 2 involved refurbishment of ground and level one entry foyers, reconfiguration of security areas, relocation of an existing café, new reception counters, refurbishment of the public ground floor children's play area and an outdoor courtyard. Works were completed after hours to minimise disruption to court proceedings under strict security arrangements.
