City of Moreland

A purpose-built centre providing the Glenroy community integrated services in a welcoming, nature-inspired setting, the Hub achieves the requirements of Passive House and 3 Petals of the Living Building Challenge. The project is a demonstration of the City of Moreland’s commitment to world-leading, sustainable design.

As Head Contractor, Building Engineering established a plan for the project focussed on the social aspects of sustainability and equity, minimising impact on the environment, supporting local business and promoting economic diversity and viability. This plan builds on our Social and Sustainable Procurement Policy and Framework and Equity and Diversity Policy through partnerships with local Registered Charities Youth Projects and I’m Still Learning.

The Hub offers diverse services to support, inspire and connect local residents at all stages of life. Features include maternal and child health services, integrated long day care centre and kindergarten, contemporary library offering a gateway to knowledge, creativity and social connections with services tailored to all age groups, community health centre, and locally managed community garden for growing, harvesting and sharing food. Local groups are able to host meetings and celebrations in multi-purpose rooms available for hire.
