Building Engineering was proud to partner with St Columba’s College to deliver the Foxford Innovation Centre, a landmark project designed as a hub for innovation, collaboration and future-focused learning. Aligned with best practice in STEAM education, the facility supports dynamic, cross-disciplinary environments that empower students to explore, create and connect.
Delivered an impressive three months ahead of programme, the Foxford Innovation Centre is located on the prominent corner of Buckley and Lorraine Streets. The design draws inspiration from the heritage character of the existing Bruton building, incorporating elegant arches and curved forms that seamlessly integrate with the established campus.
Internally, the centre has been thoughtfully designed to support flexible learning, featuring agile breakout spaces, integrated IT connectivity, and adaptable furniture to accommodate a variety of teaching and learning styles.
The facility includes purpose-built specialist learning spaces to support cross-disciplinary education, including:
- Junior and senior food technology kitchens
- Flexible learning areas for food technology
- Maker spaces
- Textiles and ceramics studios
- Digital design and photography studios (including darkroom)
- General art classrooms
- Science labs (chemistry, biology, physics)
- Science prep room
- Canteen kitchen and food store
- Competition-grade sports court
- Staff car park and facilities
- Extensive paving and landscaping
The construction aligns with St Columba’s commitment to providing students with cutting-edge resources that encourage collaboration and hands-on learning across multiple disciplines.
