Building Engineering was awarded this project in late December 2016 and began on site in January 2017.The scope of works included the excavation of the existing South Oval and constructing a new 5000 m2 single level basement car park underneath. The new car park includes room for 155 cars with significant storage areas for associated maintenance machinery. Three entrances were included with separate SW entry for IGS Staff. A dedicated link passage way, also underground, was included in the scope and connects above ground via stairs and lift to a small building, providing access to the rest of the school.Significant waterproofing was required on top of the structure, allowing for the installation of a new turf football oval, turf cricket wicket and practice wicket and synthetic practice nets.Major construction works were completed in February 2018, with the car park handed over for use. Oval works and landscaping completed in May 2018.
