Bogong Car Park Extension recognised at the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards
Building Engineering is proud to share that the Bogong Car Park Extension has been recognised at the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards, receiving a prestigious Good Design Award Winner accolade in the Built Environment – Architectural Design category.
Delivered by Building Engineering for the City of Monash, in collaboration with Katz Architecture and the wider consultant team, the project demonstrates how innovative design and construction solutions can transform essential civic infrastructure into a distinctive architectural landmark.
More than a functional parking facility, the Bogong Car Park Extension is designed to enhance the surrounding entertainment precinct, improve parking efficiency, and contribute positively to the public realm.
The project presented a range of technical and structural challenges, requiring close collaboration between the architect, engineers and client to achieve the best possible outcome. Through innovative structural solutions, the team retained valuable parking spaces previously considered unachievable while optimising the building’s overall efficiency and functionality.
The completed facility also incorporates distinctive architectural elements, integrated lighting, and public realm improvements, creating a prominent urban marker that strengthens the identity and activation of the surrounding precinct.
Recognition for innovation and collaboration
Under the 2026 theme ‘Design that Leads’, the Australian Good Design Awards celebrate projects that show how thoughtful design can navigate complexity, drive innovation, and create positive change.
In recognising the Bogong Multi Level Carpark, the Good Design Awards Jury commended the project’s structural ingenuity, environmental responsibility and contribution to placemaking, highlighting how clever design has transformed a traditionally utilitarian building into a meaningful civic asset.
For Building Engineering, this recognition reflects the collaborative effort, technical expertise and commitment to quality demonstrated throughout the delivery of this complex project.
