Building Engineering to deliver vibrant transformation at 318 Little Collins Street

Building Engineering is proud to announce its appointment to deliver the rejuvenation of 318 Little Collins Street, a mixed-use hospitality and retail destination in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

Originally constructed in the late 1960s, the three-storey building, known as the Hub Arcade, will undergo a bold transformation that both respects its heritage context and breathes new life into this boutique city address. The revitalised façade will create a fresh and contemporary presence on Little Collins Street, re-establishing the site as a landmark destination.

The works span four levels and include a new rooftop hospitality venue, exclusive laneway entry, reimagined retail spaces, and upgraded building services. A light-touch yet impactful approach will optimise the existing structure while unlocking new opportunities for hospitality, shopping, and leisure. The design cleverly embraces Melbourne’s appetite for laneway discovery, with an arcade connection linking through to the historic Royal Arcade.

The scope of works includes demolition and structural upgrades, a new rooftop addition, a contemporary façade treatment, significant improvements to building services, and the delivery of refreshed retail and hospitality spaces, alongside laneway enhancements.

This exciting project will deliver a modern adaptive re-use outcome that respects the existing fabric while creating a vibrant new destination for hospitality, retail, and leisure in one of Melbourne’s most boutique and character-filled streets.
