Milestone for St Columba’s College with the official turning of the sod for the Foxford Innovation Centre

A momentous occasion unfolded at St Columba’s College last Thursday, as our team celebrated the official turning of the sod for the groundbreaking Foxford Innovation Centre project. With a gathering of special guests including representatives from the College Board, Mary Aikenhead Education, Fontic Group, CHT Architects, college leadership team members, and the Moonee Valley Mayor Cr. Pierce Tyson, this event marked the commencement of a new era for St Columba’s College.

The Foxford Innovation Centre is a state-of-the-art facility set to become an essential part of the College’s vision of providing a modern and dynamic learning environment. The building’s design, facilities, and technology infrastructure reflect best practices in STEAM education, providing exceptional education to students. The turning of the sod ceremony was a testament to the dedication and vision of all those involved.

The turning of the sod ceremony included the symbolic groundbreaking moment, where special guests and college representatives took turns shoveling soil to mark the official start of construction. Seeing this activity on-site has brought about a great deal of excitement and anticipation for the new building.

The Foxford Innovation Centre will house cutting-edge facilities for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) programs. It will provide a collaborative environment where students can engage in hands-on learning experiences, fostering innovation and critical thinking.

The Foxford Innovation Centre is expected to be completed in 2025, ushering in a new era of education excellence at St Columba’s College. The Centre is a significant investment in the future of educational opportunities for the school community, by providing learning spaces that promote and support creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

“We’re thrilled to be delivering this exceptional project for St. Columba’s College. The Foxford Innovation Centre isn’t just a structure; it symbolises creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Together, we’re constructing more than just bricks and mortar; we’re creating a hub for staff and students from diverse disciplines to collaborate and learn.” – Chris Doufas, Director
