Building Engineering is delivering Stage 1 of the Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School Junior Boys Campus redevelopment in Essendon, marking a proud return to the school after successfully delivering the Middle Boys School project in 2013.
Building Engineering is also delighted to once again partner with McBride Charles Ryan Architects, continuing a long-standing relationship built on collaboration and design excellence.
The project centres on the construction of a vibrant new three-storey educational facility located in the north-west corner of the campus, designed to support collaboration, creativity, and dynamic learning experiences for students and staff. Architecturally, the project embraces bold forms, colour, and playful geometry, complemented by a combination of precast and brick elements and high-quality internal finishes to create an engaging and inspiring environment for young learners.
The new facility will feature a broad mix of contemporary learning environments, including general and specialist classrooms, breakout and collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, staff facilities, amenities, and library spaces spread across all levels. A rooftop terrace connected to the library will further enhance opportunities for flexible learning and student connection, while rooftop plant equipment and solar PV systems will support the building’s operational and sustainability outcomes.
Works also include the refurbishment and integration of the existing two-storey heritage-listed Administration Building, creating a seamless connection between the school’s rich history and its future-focused learning environment.
Working within a live school environment, Building Engineering will prioritise the safety of the school community while carefully managing construction activities to minimise disruption to day-to-day campus operations.
Building Engineering is proud to help shape the next chapter of PEGS’ educational facilities through thoughtful design, quality construction, and a commitment to delivering long-term value for the school community.
