Building Engineering celebrates groundbreaking at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School Junior Boys Campus
Building Engineering is proud to celebrate the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS) Junior Boys Campus, marking the commencement of an exciting new chapter for the school community.
The project will deliver a vibrant and future-focused learning environment designed to support collaboration, creativity, and dynamic educational experiences for students and staff alike. Thoughtfully planned to accommodate a broad range of learning activities, the new campus spaces will provide flexibility, connection, and opportunities for discovery throughout the school.
Led by Building Engineering in partnership with McBride Charles Ryan Architects, the project embraces bold architectural forms, colour, and playful geometry, creating an engaging and inspiring setting for young learners.
The new campus will feature a new learning neighbourhood, a dedicated makers building, a library, specialist and general learning areas, breakout and collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, staff facilities, and amenities. A key feature of the project is the seamless connection through to the heritage administration building, carefully balancing the school’s rich history with its future aspirations.
Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School Principal, Kate Dullard, shared her excitement at the ceremony:
“We are so excited to be partnering with McBride Charles Ryan and Building Engineering on this project and turning the sod today. This project reflects our heritage and our aspirations for the future, a project that will speak to our school values of excellence and curiosity, as we design spaces to ensure students have an excellent education experience but also the opportunity to make connections with each other, connections between indoor and outdoor spaces and those connections with our history and our future.”
Amani Eljari said Building Engineering is excited to bring the vision to life for the PEGS community.
“Working within a live school environment, our priority is to ensure the safety of the school community while minimising disruption to day-to-day operations throughout construction,” Amani said.
“With a combination of high-quality materials, carefully considered learning spaces, and a strong focus on connectivity and collaboration, we are proud to be delivering a project that will support students and staff for generations to come.”
Building Engineering looks forward to progressing works on-site and bringing this exceptional new campus to life.
