Building Engineering has been appointed to deliver the first stage of Harkness Memorial Park, a landmark new memorial park for the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT).
This significant community project includes the construction of new burial and cremated remains areas, supported by major earthworks, civil infrastructure and essential services installation across the expansive site.
The scope also features extensive hard and soft landscaping to shape the emerging parkland, along with new concrete and asphalt pavements that define key circulation routes and future memorial spaces.
As part of Stage One, Building Engineering is delivering a new Ceremonial Building and dedicated Maintenance Facilities, designed to support both community use and long-term operational needs.
Early works have already commenced, regenerating the landscape and establishing the foundations for a contemporary, high-quality memorial park that will serve Melbourne’s growing western region for generations to come.
Stage One of Harkness Memorial Park is expected to open in early 2027.
