Building Engineering awarded Werribee Mausoleum Stage 3

Building Engineering is proud to announce our appointment by the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) to deliver the next chapter of the Werribee Mausoleum precinct, including the highly anticipated Stage 3 expansion.

This project will extend the existing Stage 1 and 2 Mausoleum buildings, creating a serene, thoughtfully designed space that meets the growing demand for crypt and columbarium products across Melbourne’s southwest. The semi-enclosed structure will house 420 positions across five levels, incorporating a mix of single, double and tandem configurations to offer families choice, dignity and a sense of lasting connection.

Beyond the mausoleum building itself, Stage 3 will deliver a beautifully landscaped forecourt and piazza, complete with a statue, extensive paving and 168 new columbarium niche walls. A new amenities block will also be constructed near the northern boundary of the cemetery, improving accessibility and comfort for visiting families.

Werribee Mausoleum has long been a significant architectural landmark, originally known as the Wyndham Community Mausoleum before evolving into the two distinctive arrangements standing today. Its striking tiered black roofline, contemporary detailing and finely crafted bronze screening panels have made it a place of reverence and reflection for the local community.

This important community project builds on our successful partnership with GMCT, following the delivery of the multi-award-winning Northern Memorial Park Depot. We are delighted to continue this relationship and look forward to bringing another thoughtful, high-quality facility to life for the community.
