Building Engineering celebrates sod turning at Haileybury Brighton Creative Arts Centre

Building Engineering is proud to announce its appointment to deliver the new Haileybury Brighton Creative Arts Centre, marking an exciting new chapter for the school’s Castlefield Campus.

On Thursday 8 October 2026, representatives from Haileybury, Building Engineering, and project partners gathered to celebrate the official sod-turning ceremony, marking the start of this significant development.

Working alongside Johnstaff and Architectus, Building Engineering will deliver a new multi-level performing arts building, including basement and upper levels, together with the refurbishment of existing buildings across the arts precinct and extensive external works.

The new Creative Arts Centre will provide contemporary facilities for music, drama and visual arts, complemented by a magnificent auditorium designed to become the cultural heart of the campus. The precinct will create new opportunities for student performances, assemblies and community celebrations, supporting creativity, collaboration and artistic expression for generations to come.

Speaking at the ceremony, Katrina Manson, Head of Castlefield (Brighton) at Haileybury, reflected on the significance of the development:

“Today is about much more than the start of the building project. It’s about a vision becoming reality.”

Building Engineering Design Manager Arzu Mulayim also shared the team’s enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the opportunity to deliver a facility that will make a lasting contribution to the campus and its students.

Building Engineering looks forward to working collaboratively with Haileybury, Johnstaff, Architectus and the broader project team to bring this exciting vision to life.
