Building Engineering gives back during National Volunteer Week 2026
As part of National Volunteer Week 2026, Building Engineering proudly continued our partnership with The DV Collective, with team members coming together to support women and children impacted by domestic violence through a meaningful volunteering initiative.
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, recognising the important role volunteers play in strengthening communities across the country. This year’s theme, ‘Your Year to Volunteer’, celebrates the contributions of volunteers while encouraging more Australians to get involved and create lasting, positive change.
As part of The DV Collective Volunteering Event Series, our team participated in a hands-on session focused on creating immediate impact for those who need it most. Together, we helped sort and pack 300 essential hygiene care packs for women and families fleeing domestic violence.
The packs included everyday necessities such as shampoo, conditioner, face moisturiser, toothbrushes and other personal care essentials, items many of us take for granted but can be critical for women and children entering emergency accommodation with very few belongings.
The completed care kits will support Nova for Women and Children, Jenny’s Place, Port Stephens Refuge, and Warlga Ngurra Incorporated, helping to provide practical support for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.
While the statistics surrounding domestic violence remain confronting, volunteering days like this demonstrate how collective action can create meaningful change. It was a rewarding experience for our team to contribute to something so tangible and see firsthand how practical support and community connection can make a difference during incredibly difficult times.
A big thank you to The DV Collective for facilitating another impactful event and for the incredible work they continue to do connecting organisations and communities with meaningful opportunities to support women and children in need. And a huge thank you to our Building Engineering team members who took the time to give back and support such an important initiative.
