Building momentum at Harkness Memorial Park
Building Engineering is proud to share the latest progress on Stage One of the Harkness Memorial Park project, a significant development for Melbourne’s rapidly growing western region.
Located in Melton West, this landmark project for the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust will deliver a contemporary memorial park designed to meet the community’s needs for generations to come. The project will provide new burial areas, landscaped parkland, and key buildings, including the Ceremonial Building and Maintenance Facilities.
This is a large-scale civil project, with works spanning extensive earthworks, major infrastructure, and essential services. As the site continues to evolve, the scale of the development is becoming increasingly evident.
Strong progress is being made across multiple fronts on-site. Piling and beam works are well underway, with approximately 600 of the 1,850 piles now complete, marking around one-third of this critical phase. To maintain momentum, additional beam crews have been mobilised to the site to support the continued acceleration of works.
Roadworks are taking shape, with capping layers now complete and the first crushed rock layer about 70% finished, really starting to define the park’s future layout.
Meanwhile, progress is continuing behind the scenes, with structural steel for the Ceremonial Building and Maintenance Facility currently in manufacture and scheduled for delivery to the site later this month.
It’s been a fantastic effort from the team and our project partners to get us to this point, and you can really start to see the scale and vision of the project coming to life.
With momentum building across the site, Building Engineering looks forward to continuing this progress and delivering Stage One of Harkness Memorial Park in 2027.
