Fraser Centre reaches major construction milestone at Ivanhoe Grammar School
Construction of the new Fraser Centre at Ivanhoe Grammar School’s Ridgeway Campus continues to take shape, following the recent celebration of a significant project milestone: reaching the building’s highest point.
Building Engineering joined representatives from Ivanhoe Grammar School and the wider project team to mark the topping-out milestone and recognise the progress achieved on the new facility.
Designed by Wood Marsh, the Fraser Centre will deliver a contemporary learning environment that creates a stronger bridge between secondary and tertiary education and prepares students for their future pathways.
At the time of the milestone, façade works were approximately halfway complete, with the building’s distinctive feature brickwork preparing to commence. Internally, the feature staircase was nearing completion, while finishes were progressing across multiple levels.
Building Engineering Project Manager Jake Lewis said it was exciting to see the project’s vision becoming a reality.
“It’s fantastic to see the vision for the Fraser Centre becoming a reality, and we’re on track for completion in 2027,” Jake said.
“We look forward to handing over a facility that will serve the Ivanhoe Grammar School community for many years to come.”
Named in honour of former Ivanhoe Grammar School Principal Rod Fraser, who led the school from 1996 to 2015, the Centre recognises his significant contribution to the school’s evolution.
The new facility will feature contemporary study and collaborative learning spaces, digital labs, two bespoke design labs supporting visual and creative arts and product and design technology, the Andrianopoulos Theatre, and Kempen Terrace, a rooftop café.
Ivanhoe Grammar School Principal Gerard Foley said that while the Fraser Centre was a beautiful building, its greatest significance would be what happens within it.
“More importantly is the learning that is going to go on within this building to support students for generations to come,” Gerard said.
With students already looking forward to the opportunities the new spaces will provide, the topping out milestone marked another important step towards bringing this significant facility to life.
Building Engineering is proud to be working alongside Ivanhoe Grammar School, Wood Marsh and the wider project team as construction progresses towards completion in 2027.
