Naming ceremony celebration at Wantirna College

Building Engineering was delighted to attend Wantirna College’s Naming Ceremony last week, where the school officially revealed the names of its newly completed facilities—now collectively known as the Mooroop Centre, meaning Spirit Centre.

Delivered by Building Engineering, in partnership with the Victorian School Building Authority, the project includes a two-court competition-grade gymnasium, along with new music and performing arts classrooms. These modern spaces replace aging infrastructure and support the school’s long-term vision for education and community engagement.

At the ceremony, the following spaces were officially named in honour of influential Australian and First Nations figures:

– Rachel Maza Drama Studio
– Ella Havelka Dance Studio
– Patty Mills Court
– Ash Barty Court

A standout moment saw a Year 11 student take the very first “hoop in the Mooroop,” sparking celebration and pride across the community.

Jackson Taylor MP was in attendance alongside College Council members and the Building Engineering project team, recognising the collaboration and commitment behind this transformative development.

We’re incredibly proud to have delivered these new facilities and to have shared in such a meaningful moment with the Wantirna College community.
