Breaking ground at the St. Mina and St. Marina Coptic Orthodox Church

The atmosphere was charged with excitement yesterday as Building Engineering proudly hosted the sod-turning ceremony for the St. Mina and St. Marina Coptic Orthodox Church project. The event, a significant milestone, brought together a distinguished gathering that included our esteemed client from the church, the dedicated project team from Building Engineering, enthusiastic members from the church community, the funding manager from NAB, and the visionary architects from Studio Bright.

Unveiling a vision: a three-story marvel for the community

At the heart of this groundbreaking ceremony lies the vision for an impressive three-story church, meticulously designed to cater to the diverse needs of the expanding community. Boasting specific areas for church services and childcare, this architectural marvel is set to redefine communal spaces. The scope of the project is nothing short of extraordinary, encompassing a 500m² childcare centre, 548m² of terraces, a chapel and theatre, Sunday school classrooms, a 200m² multi-purpose hall, library, commercial kitchen, lift, central courtyard, childcare play area, and a breathtaking roof terrace.

Exterior elegance: a fusion of durability and aesthetic appeal

The church’s exterior will boast an extensive masonry façade package with a bagged, rendered, and painted finish, adding both durability and aesthetic appeal.

Father Abanoub blesses the beginning

The day’s proceedings were graced by Father Abanoub, who not only spoke passionately about the project but also conducted a heartfelt blessing ceremony. His enthusiasm echoed the sentiments of everyone present, emphasising the long journey leading to the commencement of construction. This new church is destined to be a robust meeting place for the community, fulfilling their expanding needs and becoming a beacon of unity.

Architectural excellence and community service

This project stands as a testament to Building Engineering’s unwavering commitment to architectural excellence and community service. As construction kicks off, we look forward to witnessing the growth of this landmark structure that will undoubtedly serve as a symbol of unity and strength for generations to come.

Stay tuned for updates as we work towards creating a space that will serve as a cornerstone for the community.
