Celebrating heritage excellence at Scotch College

We’re proud to have worked alongside Cox Architecture on the Scotch College Errington Retreat — a thoughtful adaptive reuse project now shortlisted in the 2025 Victorian Architecture Awards in the Heritage Architecture category.

An adaptive reuse opportunity was identified to reimagine a former scullery, the only remaining remnant of the original Glen House mansion, which was demolished in the 1960s. Built in 1875, that remaining portion is one of the oldest heritage buildings on campus.

This beautifully restored space now welcomes boarders and their families with warmth and functionality. The design thoughtfully integrates:

– Restored heritage features — timber trusses, slate roof, and masonry façade
– A new glazed pavilion reflecting the surrounding landscape
– Contemporary indoor and outdoor spaces including a lounge, gym, kitchenette, and meeting area

A huge congratulations and good luck to the team at Cox. It has been a privilege to deliver this project for the Scotch College community!
