Epping Private Day Surgery and IPU Complete

Repeat clients Healthe Care Australia recently took possession of their new Day Surgery and Inpatient Unit, with works completed in August. (Bldg.Eng) was involved with this project from the outset, from ECI stage, delivering an early works package, through to completing major fit out works of the main facility over two stages under a Design and Construct contract. Well Done team.

Carlton Primary School Redevelopment Aramax FreeSpan Roof

The (Bldg.Eng) team working on the redevelopment of Carlton Primary School recently achieved a significant milestone, completing installation of the roof covering the new external play area. Utilising The Aramax FreeSpan structural cladding system (by Fielders), Palmerston Street was temporarily shut down while a mobile manufacturing unit was delivered to site, which produced continuous lengths of 30 metre formed cladding sheets ready for use. The entire roof was rolled onsite in one day, with installation completed over 3 days.

Ivanhoe Grammar School Underground Car Park Complete

(Bldg.Eng) team have completed works on the Ivanhoe Grammar School Underground Car Park project. The scope of works included major excavation of the existing South Oval and construction of a new 5000m2 single level basement car park with room for 155 cars and significant storage areas for associated maintenance machinery. Major construction works were completed in February 2018, with the car park handed over for use. Oval works and landscaping completed in May 2018. Well Done Team.

Melbourne Magistrates & Children's Courts Project Complete

(Bldg.Eng) team recently completed works on The Melbourne Magistrates & Children's Court. Scope involved the demolition of existing, outdated facilities, refurbishment works and new construction over two stages. Works were completed after hours to minimise disruption to court proceedings under strict security arrangements. PC was achieved in March 2018. Well Done Team.

Maroondah Hospital Breast Cancer Care Centre Opens

Eastern Health's new Breast Cancer Care Centre was officially opened today, May 21st 2018 by Minister for Health Jill Hennessy. The Minister was joined by the Member for Eastern Metropolitan area Shaun Leane and executives from both Eastern Health and BreastScreen Victoria.

 

The new state-of-the-art facility brings together a range of previously separate breast cancer services and technologies in Melbourne's east in a modern, 'one-stop-shop' centre, expected to service over 25,000 patients annually. (Bldg.Eng) was appointed in December 2016 to construction the new center, designed by Architects BLP.

Christ Church Grammar School Completion

The (Bldg.Eng) team working on the Christ Church Grammar School project celebrated its completion last week. After a massive effort in the final month from our crew and sub-consultants, the end result is very impressive.

Our efforts were described by the designers Sally Draper Architects as "Bldg.Eng have delivered an excellent outcome and the school and we are delighted with the result."

Up She Goes. Tower Crane Installed at 101 Grey Street

A milestone event quietly happened on site this week at 101 Grey Street in St Kilda. The (Bldg.Eng) Construction team working on the Sacred Heart Mission Aged Care development oversaw the installation of the project Tower Crane. Adding to the moment, our (Bldg.Eng) brandmark installed at huge scale on the crane structure. Our thanks to the teams at Clark Cranes and Cosmos Signs.
 

Melbourne Grammar School Complete

(Bldg.Eng) team recently completed works at Melbourne Grammar School. The scope of works included the partial refurbishment of Building 115 over two levels, including the installation of a new lift with innovative glass facade, upgrades to the existing common room including bespoke joinery, new bathrooms and new servery kitchen.

Significant structural steel works and waterproofing were required to the roof to allow for the installation of a new mechanical plant platform. Works in Building 110 included the refurbishment of existing office and administration areas. Well done team.

 

WGAC Golden Bolt Ceremony

The (Bldg.Eng) West Gippsland Arts Centre team recently created and took part in a special golden moment on site. Members of Baw Baw Shire Council and other stakeholders were invited on site to attach the last nut and bolt into the massive steel beam of the reinstated balcony section.

The achievement was recognised by using a golden nut and bolt and recorded by time-lapse cameras, capturing the considerable effort of the (Bldg.Eng) team hoisting the beam into place.

Governor of Victoria WGAC Site Visit

Our (Bldg.Eng) Team working on the West Gippsland Arts Centre project had a special visitor on Friday August 25th with The Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC taking a tour of progress so far on site. The Governors visit was part of a larger, official regional tour of Gippsland. The Governor was accompanied on the site visit by Mr Anthony Howard QC, (Bldg.Eng) Director Chris Doufas, Angela Doufas, Deputy Mayor Cr Mikaela Power and staff from Baw Baw Shire Council, WGAC Project Manager Tristan Hennessy and Chris Hose from Williams Ross Architects.

(Bldg.Eng) were honoured by The Governors visit and thank Baw Baw Shire Council for their organisation of the event.

Essendon East Keilor College Niddrie

(Bldg.Eng) were recently awarded this project by The DET through the Victorian School Board Authority Capital Works Program. The project will include the construction of a new, purpose built single story “STEM” learning centre, designed to focus on the development of ICT and technical skills for future employment needs.

The new building is designed in a horseshoe shape, with connected learning pods including graphics, home EC, art, science and technology zones, with additional administration, reception, staff room and offices, materials storage and toilet facilities.

The project scope also includes construction of outdoor hard and soft landscaping, car park facilities and associated civil works. Materials include slab on ground, structural steel, core filled masonry, brick, timber, textured FC sheeting, Colorbond cladding.

(Bldg.Eng) are working in collaboration with Haskell Architects and Accuraco Project Management on this project.
